The Olympics are over

I completed 2 Olympic distance Triathlons this season.  The hilly Plymouth Triathlon was my first.  A 31 min swim beat expectations but the 1:30 bike was poor and I suffered.  The 10km run was the hardest run I have ever done – harder than Edinburgh marathon.  I fuelled inefficiently on the bike and suffered later on as a result.  I managed to duck under the 3hr ark so achieved my goal.

BRAT offered a free place to their olympic triathlon 3 Sep.  I decided to use the opportunity.  Unfortunately I had barely trained and must have weighed 85kg.  I still got a PB despite a 38 min swim.  The run was a nice 4 x 2.5km loop with a small hill.  The flat bike meant I gained a lot of time over my past PB.

What now? Well I feel the Olympics are over.  They are a hard distance to race I have also had some great news that will influence my training over the next year… more to follow!
